Paul McMahon is a practising solicitor with over 25 years’ experience in the practice of law in Ireland. He practised as an England and Wales solicitor in Ireland for over 12 years.   He has practised as a Chartered Tax Adviser for 16 years. Paul founded McMahon Legal in 2018.

Paul has been a partner in two mid-size Dublin commercial solicitor firms. He has practised as a solicitor and legal adviser in a wide range of areas including corporate and commercial law, employment, trade, property development, trusts and estate planning, litigation, banking and taxation.

Paul has acted individually or as a team member or leader in many complex, challenging and unique projects in various areas and sectors. Samples of transactions in which Paul has acted are included in the pages that deal with our services.

Areas and Sectors

Paul has advised and acted in transactions for clients across most business sectors, principally for small to medium size businesses. He has also acted for state bodies.

Paul has practised, at the highest level, in drafting, negotiating, managing and concluding numerous commercial transactions and arrangements. He has advised businesses in many industries in relation to their employment, trading, compliance and regulatory structures and requirements.

Paul has acted in a range of commercial disputes and litigation, including shareholder disputes, contract claims and insolvency matters in the High Court and Commercial Court. He has also acted in a wide range of disputes, prosecutions and civil claims, in the District and Circuit Courts.

Paul has extensive experience in commercial and residential property matters, construction and development. He has advised on, structured and concluded numerous acquisitions, leases, development arrangements, building contracts and disposals.

Paul has acted for a number of leading financial institutions in relation to their requirements including commercial and contract matters, compliance, policies, lending, security, enforcement and insolvency matters.

Paul has worked in the in-house legal firm of one of the top four international accountancy practices. In that capacity and subsequently, he has undertaken tax based transactions, group and company restructuring and trust and estate planning matters for high net worth individuals.

Paul led a unique England and Wales law team based in Dublin for many years providing services in English commercial litigation, property and commercial law for Irish clients.
